Welcomepk彩票 to Watershed School
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our academic program. Our unique approach to teaching and learning balances the academic rigor of many of the best secondary schools in the country with a school culture that nurtures a deeply-held trust in and respect for one another. It gives me great pleasure to share with you a few of the many ways in which Watershed School demonstrates in its design and daily practice the innovative approaches that we believe best prepare our students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
Innovative teaching: Highly qualified faculty integrate the latest research and real-life experience to provide our students with learning experiences rarely found at the high school level, most recently demonstrated by DNA extraction and identification of locally gathered, invasive insect species.
Project-Based Learning: Real-world problem solving through project-based learning aptly describe the report issued by Watershed’s Climate Change class entitled, “A Carbon Neutral Camden: It’s time to Act.” Based on extensive research and surveys, Watershed students developed a plan for the Town of Camden to reduce fossil fuel use. As a result, the Town has reinstated an Energy Committee, on which a Watershed student now serves.
Digital Portfolios for Colleges: New trends in college admissions merge with what Watershed has been working on for years to encourage young people to think more deeply about what they are learning and compile portfolios that demonstrate growth over time.
Performance-based Assessment: Above and beyond what standardized tests can measure, Watershed has developed a Foundational Skills program that uses performance-based assessment to develop the innovative and collaborative skills necessary for success in the 21st century.
Since 2003, Watershed School has served families looking for greater academic opportunity and challenge, a supportive school culture, and a strong sense that each student can make a real and meaningful difference in their community.
